Small Strength

Seasons come into our lives that test our strength. They come in the form of adversity, which...

If you faint in the day of adversity,

Your strength is small. Proverbs 24:10

Seasons come into our lives that test our strength. They come in the form of adversity, which comes in a day and lasts for a season. There are moments when adversity is birthed out of circumstances, decisions or even relationships. Nevertheless, the size of our strength is measured by our response to adversity.

One of the greatest measures of our spiritual strength is seen in our conduct towards others who may be the source of adversity in our lives. I know from experience the temptation to retaliate against those who bring hardship into our lives with bad intentions. But if we faint in the day of adversity, our strength is small. On the other hand, we shall reap a reward in due season if we do not faint, and do not grow weary in well doing. Doing well to those who have demonstrated bad intentions toward us takes strength. But what if my strength is small?

When our strength is small because of the day of adversity. Then we can find refuge and strength in the LORD. The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. The Lord is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed. Psalm 28:7-8

You are His anointed so He is your strength and your saving refuge. The Lord is your strength and shield, so let your heart trust in Him and you shall be helped by Him, even when your strength is small. There is no limit to His strength, therefore let your heart greatly rejoice as you sing a new song of praise unto Him. GOD is our refuge and strength, a very  present help in trouble. You don’t need to look around for strength our GOD is a very present help in the day of adversity.

Isaiah 40:29 Let’s us know that “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.“ When our strength is small our GOD comes to increase strength in us so that we can demonstrate His power even when we feel weak. Therefore we can overcome the day of adversity even when our strength is small.

Isaiah 41:10 also lets us know that we should not fear nor be dismayed:  ”Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ We have this precious promise from the LORD, that He will strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with His righteous right hand. This means we are sitting in heavenly places with Christ Jesus who is sitting on the right hand of GOD our Father. How can our strength remain small when He upholds us with His righteous right hand? You shall not faint in the day of adversity because you are strengthened with power and authority by the righteous right hand of GOD.

Small strength is enough to overcome adversity when our strength is increased in the presence of the LORD!
