He will bring forth Justice

The prophet Isaiah is delivering a messianic foreshadow of Jesus Christ who would be...

“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights!

I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.

He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.

A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench;

He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged,

Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”

Isaiah 42:1-4

The prophet Isaiah is delivering a messianic foreshadow of Jesus Christ who would be sent to redeem us and bring forth justice. Because God our Father delights in Him, He also delights in everyone who receives the Lord. His Spirit is upon the Gentiles for Justice. One of the things that our Lord came to do in the earth is to bring forth justice.

We are blessed to be in Christ, who has come to establish justice in the earth. Injustice is birthed when all that is in the world overtakes those in power. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:16-17

Injustice is not the will of God. It is the result of lust and pride, which gives those in power a false sense of supremacy. Yet the God who created heaven and earth, the sea and dry land, has made all human beings in His image and likeness. Because He is the creator of us all, when He formed Adam from the dust of the earth. Which makes Adam earthly — when Adam and Eve were tempted and ushered in the fall of humankind. It was then that the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life entered the world. But we see the second Adam that is from above — who came down from heaven to establish on earth that which is in heaven.

The good news is that lust and pride is not of the Father, and with the world, it shall pass away. But all who do the will of God shall abide forever. May we establish justice in the earth as co-laborers together with Christ, the anointed One who was sent to establish justice. It is the will of God that we speak up and speak out against those things that defile humankind, so that the Kingdom’s of this world will become the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ.

It does not matter how much we sing and offer the sacrifice of praise to God, if we don’t seek the justice that Jesus came to establish. The prophet Amos makes it clear when he proclaims: I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies. Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them, Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings. Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments. But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.”

May the church of the Living God be joined together as one in seeking justice, and no longer keeping silent. It is high time that we awake out of sleep. There is an awakening to the word of God that is transforming hearts and minds all over the earth, by the power of the One who promised that He will bring forth Justice. He will uphold us as we seek justice in our land.
