The Lord is a God of Justice

All over the world there are people afflicted with the pandemic of injustice. Many are wondering...

Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you;

And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.

For the Lord is a God of justice;

Blessed are all those who wait for Him. Isaiah 30:18

All over the world there are people afflicted with the pandemic of injustice. Many are wondering how long Lord will You keep silent? The truth is God has spoken and He will act in righteousness, we need to know that the Lord will wait. King David pondered injustice and wondered if the Lord had knowledge of these things in Psalm 73:2-20 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no pangs in their death, But their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men, Nor are they plagued like other men. Therefore pride serves as their necklace; Violence covers them like a garment. Their eyes bulge with abundance; They have more than heart could wish. They scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression; They speak loftily. They set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue walks through the earth. Therefore his people return here, And waters of a full cup are drained by them. And they say, “How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?” Behold, these are the ungodly, Who are always at ease; They increase in riches. Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence. For all day long I have been plagued, And chastened every morning. If I had said, “I will speak thus,” Behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children. When I thought how to understand this, It was too painful for me— Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end. Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. As a dream when one awakes, So, Lord, when You awake, You shall despise their image.

Though the Lord tarries long, He avenges His children speedily. While we who dwell in time look around and see injustice that appears to be unchecked. God who dwells in eternity waits that He may  be gracious to us. My prayer for you is  that you can discern the kairos moment when the Lord will move — a kairos moment is the proper or opportune time for action. In effect, this is what is meant by the saying “He may not come when you want Him, but He’s always on time. God knows the proper time to act, we need to know that He waits that He may be gracious to you and me, and therefore the Lord will be exalted.

It is good to know that the Lord is a God of justice. Thus, it does not matter how long or widespread injustice may appear to prevail, we can be confident that God watches over His word to perform it. His word shall never return to Him void, but it shall accomplish the thing to which it has been sent. Blessed are all those who wait for him.

Wait upon the God of justice and be of good courage. He sees and knows exactly what to do and when to do it. Did you know that the God of justice actually loves justice? Why does God love justice? Because humankind is His greatest creation in whom He desires to reflect His character. This is why we were redeemed from the fall when angels were not. Believers are partakers of His divine nature, and He gives to us everything we need pertaining to life and godliness. The word of the Lord in Isaiah 61:8 says —  “For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery for burnt offering; I will direct their work in truth, And will make with them an everlasting covenant.

Knowing the heart and mind of God as it pertains to justice, helps us to endure and not stumble as David almost did, until he went into the sanctuary; which is to say he went into the presence of God and then he saw clearly. Because we live in a fallen world, there remains wickedness that must be dealt with by the Lord our righteous judge. Don’t fret when justice is delayed, our God loves justice, and He is a God of justice in all the earth. Justice delayed is not justice denied in America or anywhere in the world, because the earth is the Lord’s in all its fullness, and they who dwell in the earth.

As a community of godly people, we should reflect the character of our creator. Therefore, we should love justice as we seek the face of the God of justice who we serve.
