In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:4-5
Darkness cannot stop light from shining, but the benefit of light must be seen by those who walk in the light. For example, if I close my eyes while walking in the noonday sun, the light does not assist me in the steps that I take. That is what it is like for those who did not comprehend the light in the days of Jesus. Why was this the case? The Bible gives us some insight in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
The god of this age has blinded the mind of those who hear the gospel and reject it. Life is in the gospel, and that light is in us — The entrance of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130
This explains why the darkness did not comprehend the light. Light cannot penetrate the eyes of a blind person. So if the enemy can can blind you he will. When we are wise, then the enemy of our soul changes tactics. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14 For those of us who can see and comprehend the light. The deceiver transforms himself into what appears to be light, but it is not the true light. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. John 1:6-9
Comprehension of the light goes beyond those who cannot distinguish darkness from light. False prophets preach a gospel that does not release light, and people who sit in darkness and cannot comprehend light, are often validated by false prophets. This causes the type of blindness that requires Spiritual healing with the light of the true gospel.
I pray that you will speak a word today that will release life and light into somebody’s darkness. They who walk in darkness will comprehend the light today, because the light that proceeds from you will consume the darkness. Open your mouth and the words that you speak, shall be spirit and life to the hearer. It is so, and so it is, in Jesus name — Amen!
