Day Two: Prayerlessness

When you do not pray you are not in communion with God.

Daily Focus: Prayerlessness

February 2

When you do not pray you are not in communion with God.

• Prayer is the lifeblood of a Christian's walk with God.

• Prayer connects us to God. Prayer is an active way to love and connect with others.

• Prayer makes room in the prayer's heart for God's correcting voice. The Bible says to "pray continually" in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, so anything other than a continual attitude of prayer and communion with God is sin. Anything that interrupts our connection to God or leads to self-reliance is wrong.

• On top of distractions, many people make the excuse that they are just too busy to pray. The busyness of life, including family responsibilities, job responsibilities, and even ministry, may lead to prayerlessness.

• Unengaged Prayer

• Refusing to Accept God's Help

• Faking It means looking like you are praying, but your thoughts and heart are not toward God.

crime. When boiled down to its essence, unforgiveness is hatred.

Scriptural Evidence of These Sins Working in Our Lives

I Samuel 15:24-26

Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the Lord." But Samuel said to Saul, "I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel."

Psalm 53:1

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."

Psalm 14:1-3

They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.

Isaiah 43:22

'Yet you have not called on Me, O Jacob; But you have become weary of Me, O Israel.

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

James 5:16

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

Luke 10: 41-42

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one, Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Matthew 11: 24

Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
