Holy Week - The Week That Changed the World
Holy Week at New Covenant Church of Philadelphia is a sacred journey through the defining moments of the Christian faith.
Beginning with Palm Sunday, moving through the solemn reflection of Good Friday, and culminating in the celebration of Resurrection Sunday, each gathering invites believers to remember Christ’s sacrifice and rejoice in His victory over death.
We invite you to join us as we behold Christ and celebrate the hope found in the resurrection.
Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and commemorates Jesus’ triumphant yet humble entry into Jerusalem. Riding on a donkey, He fulfilled the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9 and was welcomed by crowds who recognized Him as King.
Join us on March 29 at 9:30 AM as we lift our palms in celebration, honor Christ our King, and prepare our hearts for the sacred journey to the cross and resurrection.
Good Friday
On April 3, New Covenant Church of Philadelphia will observe Good Friday through Foot Washing, a Passover Seder, and a Children & Youth Good Friday Experience.
These sacred observances reflect Christ’s humility in John 13 and the fulfillment of the Old Testament Passover in the person of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. Through teaching, worship, Scripture, and reflection, participants will engage deeply with the meaning of the cross.
Registration required.
Foot Washing
On Good Friday, April 3, New Covenant Church of Philadelphia will observe a Foot Washing Service in remembrance of Christ’s example in John 13.
Jesus demonstrated humility and servant leadership by washing the feet of His disciples and instructing them to wash one another’s feet. This ordinance of the Church invites believers to embrace humility, service, and obedience as we reflect on Christ’s sacrifice.
This service is free to attend. Registration required.
Passover Seder
On April 3, New Covenant Church of Philadelphia will observe Good Friday with a Passover Seder.
The Passover Seder is the sacred meal Jesus shared at the Last Supper, rooted in the Old Testament Passover and pointing toward Christ as the Lamb of God. Through teaching, worship, Scripture, and the breaking of bread, participants will experience the spiritual depth and meaning behind this sacred observance.
Cost: $20 per person. Registration required.
Children & Youth Good Friday Experience
On April 3, New Covenant Church of Philadelphia will host a special Good Friday Experience for Children and Youth. This gathering is designed to help young people understand the significance of Christ’s sacrifice and the meaning of the cross in a clear and engaging format appropriate for their age group.
Registration is required.
Resurrection Sunday
Resurrection Sunday is the celebration of Christ’s victory over death. On April 5 at 9:30 AM, New Covenant Church of Philadelphia gathers to proclaim that the tomb is empty and Jesus is alive.
The resurrection fulfills Christ’s promise and secures our hope. Join us for a powerful service of worship, joyful praise, and biblical teaching as we celebrate the risen King.
